Thekkady is about 80 km from Theni, 151 km from Madurai City and Madurai Airport, 145 km from Cochin International Airport Thekkady is situated along the border of Kerala Idukki-Theni Tamil Nadu. The Distance between Dindigul to Thekkady by road is 140KM. Thekkady is located nearly South West side to Dindigul. The sanctuary is renowned for its thick evergreen, semi-evergreen, moist deciduous forests and grasslands of savannah. It is home to elephant herds, sambars, tigers, gaur, lion tail macaques, and Nilgir langurs.

DAY WISE ITINERARY

DAY 1 – Dindigul to Theni (Theni Sightseeing)

  • Pick up from Dindigul. Then proceed towards Theni.
  • After Breakfast Our Journey Start from, Kurangani falls : In a bid to ensure forest conservation and to avoid any risk of loss, many local people in Bodi of Theni district have appealed to the Forest personnel to strictly implement ban on trekking, which remains in effect in Kurangani hills, which falls under Bodi Range and Top Station.
  • Saneeswara Bhagawan : There is a temple which is meant solely for Saneeswara Bhagawan situated at Kuchanoor.
  • Gowmariamman temple : Veerapandi Gowmariamman temple: Gowmariamman temple, a 14 th Century Temple built by king Veerapandi of Pandya Dynasty is the famous temple here.
  • Stay at Hotel.

DAY 2 – Transfer to Munnar

  • On the second day first, you will be picked up from your hotel and drive you to Munnar.
  • On the way, you will see lush greenery and hills filled with trees. Munnar basically means three rivers” referring to confluence of 3 rivers – Madhurapuza, Nallathanni and Kundaly rivers.
  • One of the best hill stations of Kerala; it was established long back in the Western Ghats. There are numerous places to see around. And so, you will begin with the sightseeing of Tea Plantations which are the heart of Munnar.
  • In the year 1976, these plantations were taken over by TATA’S – one of the biggest manufacturers of tea in India.
  • Here we will take you around to see a factory (closed on Sundays), where the entire process of picking, segregating, drying, threshing and aroma packing is done.
  • Lunch will be in a South Indian Restaurant so that you can enjoy the flavours of south Indian delicacies. In the evening, you can take a walk down the Photo Echo Point.
  • A picturesque place to see, explore and settle down – here you can take snaps and explore the natural beauty.
  • Night stay shall be at pre – booked hotel in Munnar.

DAY 3 – Munnar Sightseeing

  • As we said before, Munnar is a bounty of beauty; here you will see nature at its best! And in this natural cradle, there live hundreds of animal and plant species! So, on the 3 day we will take you to Rajamalai Wildlife Sanctuary or Eravikulam National Park .
  • Here you can see various Indian Species including Panther, tigers, Gaur, Elephant, Sambar, Giant squirrel, champak squirrel, Spotted deer and so on. A number of birds too can be seen! In the afternoon, after lunch we will take you to Mattupetty Lake, a man – made lake formed by hydro – electricity dam (Mattupetty Dam).
  • Stay at Hotel .

DAY 4 – Thekkady Sightseeing / Transfer to Dindigul.

  • After breakfast at the hotel, visit the pride of Thekkady – the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, to embark on a boat cruise (surcharge). The undulating terrains, the rich biodiversity and lush greenery make this sanctuary a tourist’s paradise.
  • This sanctuary was declared as a Tiger Reserve in 1978. Many adventurous activities, like bamboo rafting, elephant ride and border hiking are organised here.
  • While taking the cruise, you will be mesmerised by the scenic beauty of the Periyar Lake. This sanctuary is one-of-its-kind due to the artificial lake named Periyar that allows travellers to observe wildlife from close quarters.
  • After spending some pleasurable moments during the ride, proceed for the spice plantation tour (surcharge) in the afternoon.
  • A visit to Thekkady is incomplete without exploring the spice plantations, where you will feel the stimulating aroma of the spices that are grown here.
  • Some of the spices are cardamom and pepper. Then Transfer to your Home .
